A quick “sketch” from a while back. I write a lot of these with no intention of turning them into anything larger. They may find their way into some finished piece…but who knows. I like them just the way they are, for now.
Your breath tickles my neck. It pulls me from slumber to a half-wake state that slightly twists reality. In the blend between wake and sleep I listen to your sleeping noises. The rise and fall of your breathing. The very occasional noise of movement.
From some unknown contortion, I maneuver myself closer to you. My hands slide beneath the covers to rest on your skin. I kiss your forehead, your lips.
I pull you even closer and fall back…
